You will need four cones and one ball for this exercise. Place two players on each cone. The size of the grid is 40 yd. by 20 yd. On each 40 yd. side, place a coach to act as a defender. The player on the 20yd. side starts the exercise by passing to the nearest player (on same 20 yd. side) and overlapping that player. The player carries the ball at the defender and must decide whether to play the overlapping player or keep it (they must read the defender). The ball is passed to the next player and the action starts again. Still confused? See the video. (In the video, the players are meant to overlap behind the player with the ball… sometimes it doesn’t look that way, but it should).
