I have sat in on many coaches’ half time speeches and felt as though the players were looking at the coach like he or she was speaking a foreign language. I think that there is such a lack of match preparation during the week and then the coach is forced to cram in as many ideas as possible in the 15 minute halftime. (A college Division 1 that I once worked for as an assistant would always restrict the halftime speech to three main points. I know this coach did not invent the concept, but studies have shown that that is all that players can effectively register.) I know this video is not what we typically post, but I thought it was hilarious and it inspired this post about halftime speeches.
